The Story

Thousands of years ago, Magic and Logic were merged as one. Humans, animals, and other worldly beings lived in harmony, until the gods split Magic and Logic into separate worlds. Nobody knows exactly why they did this, for all anybody knows, the gods thought it would be a great practical joke on the rest of us. That theory is mostly speculated in the depths of dark coffee houses and college campuses. Over the eons, both worlds began to grow apart and develop their own courses of history and to forget the other existed.

Until the creation of the Gemini Puzzles which allowed passage between the twin worlds to come again. Hugh Howard, a great entrepreneur and jet setter of the early 1900’s, managed to obtain one of these puzzles and discovered it’s power. The doorway promised to open both worlds up to what each had to offer (money). But after seeing the corruption, pollution, greed, and technical strangeness of the world of Logic, the wisest of the world of Magic decided it was best if things were best kept the way they were, and the barrier slammed shut again. The Gemini Puzzles were supposedly destroyed, and their memory banished to legend forever. But, again in dark coffee houses and college campuses, it is speculated that not ALL of the puzzles were destroyed and there were still people walking between the worlds. But Hugh Howard never again attempted to open the lines of trade between the worlds again.

Now, where would one expect a powerful and decidedly dangerous magical artifact that could change the course of history for two worlds to end up? In a dragon’s treasure store? In a government laboratory? Locked in a secret subterranean vault?

Nope, it ends up in a tourist trap just off the Strip of Las Vegas, Nevada to be ogled by the bored, the drunk, and the geeky. When it falls into the hands of Matt, a rebellious kid without a clue (who in turn falls straight into a tree trunk), the fate of two worlds rests precariously on his shoulders, and that of his kind-hearted but long suffering companion, Shira, a girl who happens to be a princess and one-quarter dragon.

Along with Shira’s hyperactive little brother, a laconic food-obsessed tiger man, and a grouchy talking Esquilax, the group has to set off on a quest to find a way to get Matt home (alive), find the lost human prince, stop the war between the races, save Sorian from the hands of a depraved, decadent dictator (say that three times fast), and hopefully make it home with their sanity intact.
